HEADLINER OF THE MONTH
May, 2019

The National

The National are a five member indie rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. This is a group that just keeps getting better and better with every release.  The National gained worldwide attention with their third album Alligator.  The album sold over 200,000 copies. Our favorite song of the album is a toss up between 'Lit up' and 'Secret Meeting'. It is no surprise that both songs were released as singles.

The National's next album was Boxer.  This is probably my favorite album from the band to-date.  Having said that, Trouble Will Find Me  and their Grammy Award winning Sleep Well Beast are a very, very close second. What I like about Boxer is this is an album with no fillers. All the songs are perfect drift away tunes that take me to another place. It is not surprising Boxer ranked highly in so many end of year charts. If you want to find out more details about the making of Boxer check out the DVD 'A Skin, A Night'.

Several songs on the album have made their way into several movies and TV shows. One such song is 'Fake Empire' an indie rock classic featured in HBO's Hung and NBC's Chuck.

'Mistaken for Strangers' is another great song from the album.  The video was shot in the apartment of Matt Berninger, the band's frontman.

The National are set to release their new album, I am Easy to Find on May 17, 2019.  The first single is 'You had your soul with you'.

The National are touring to support the new album.  Tickets and dates can be found on the band's webpage.
