Pavement

Pavement are indie rock legends from Stockton in California's Central Valley.  'Slated and Enchanted' is the album that put this band on the map.  The album is the quintessential indie rock record from the 1990's. It is no surprise that it influenced so many bands that followed. 'Summer babe' was the first single from the album which has found its way onto the Rolling Stone's 500 greatest songs of all time.

'Crooked Rain' is the band's second studio album which stays true to the band's indie rock roots before they branched out into more experimental endeavours. 'Cut your hair' was the first single from the album and it takes direct aim at the music industry's obsession with image.

'Stereo' from the Pavement's 'Brighten the Corners' continues the anti-establishment theme.

Hands down my favorite Pavement song, however, is 'Unfair'.  There is a lot of anger in this song.  Pavement songs are often lyrically challenging to understand but with this song I am not sure I want to delve to deep.
