The White Stripes

The White Stripes came out of the post grunge revival movement. The band released six studio albums and it is not an exaggeration to say that every single one of these albums is a classic. The band from Detroit got my attention with the release of their third studio album White Blood Cells. What made them stand out was their ability to seamlessly entwine grunge with the blues. 'Dead leaves and the dirty ground' is a good example.

With the release of their next album 'Elephant' it quickly became evident that the White Stripes were a force to be reckoned with. 'Seven Nation Army'  is definitely one of the best songs of all time.

'Get behind Satan' and 'Icky Thump' were their last two albums and both did not disappoint. There are so many great songs to choose on both of these albums but if I was forced to pick one it would be 'Icky Thump'.

My Dad loved country music. When I was growing up I heard it all the time. When the White Stripes did their cover of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' my reaction was WTF! I love it.
