The 1975

Holy Camoly Batman! The 1975 have just done a backflip of epic proportions. It is a very rare moment when an established band is brave enough to take the risk to dramatically transform their musical direction and take it down a completely different road. Well this looks like it might be one of those moments.  On August 22 the band released their lead single 'People' from their yet to be released album 'Notes on a Conditional Form'.  Well, what can you say. Their obsession with pop might be over. The guitar riffs cut the air like a knife. Lyrically, the song is in your face and it comes out swinging. It covers just about every issue out there. Clearly, this is a band that is not going to go down without a fight. We say bring it on.

Another song likely to find its way onto the album is 'Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America'. The 1975's frontman Matt Henley, tweeted this video with the caption 'Notes'.  At this stage it is difficult to say what the musical arrangement for this song is likely to be.

In July, the band put out a song to aid the climate change group, Extinction Rebellion. The song is a speech by that young Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, who has become the face of the climate crisis. It is clear that 'The 1975' don't want to just play music anymore, they want to change the world.

'Notes on a Conditional Form' is set to be released in February 2020 and we can't wait!!  Keep an eye on the band's website for more songs.
