Siouxsie and the Banshees

Siouxsie and the Banshees emerged from the ashes of the punk movement in the UK. 'The Scream' was the band's  first release and it is considered to be the album that pioneered the post-punk genre that spawned the likes of Joy Division, Morrissey, and the Cure. 'Hong Kong Garden' was the band's debut single.

'Helter Skelter' is one of my favorite songs on the album and it is generally believed that the band's interpretation of the Beetles' song helped shape the foundation of heavy mental.  This is a band who knew how to take a song and make it their own.

'Join Hands' was the band's second album and it is considered to be the album that kicked off the goth rock genre.

Siouxsie and the Banshees knew how to mix it. They were not afraid to change musical direction. 'Kaleidoscope' was the band's third studio album and it was like discovering a completely different band.

'Peepshow' is one of my all time favorite albums and it is the release that broke the band in the America.

The impact of the band on the music that followed was huge. Everyone from Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Red Hot Chilli Peppers right through to the Weeknd have either cited the band as a major inspiration or have covered or sampled the band's music. Siouxsie and the Banshees are one of the greatest bands of all time and they have influenced the music we know and love across so many genres.
