HEADLINER OF THE MONTH
August, 2022
Fontaines D.C.

The Fontaines D.C. are a band that have only been around for four years and in that time they have released three albums. The quality of their output is impressive. Their first album had the apt title 'Dogrel', which paid homage to a working-class Irish poetry genre called Doggerel. The album was released on Partisan Records and the first single from the album was 'Liberty Belle'.

If you had to describe this band in two words I would have to say 'generational disillusionment'. It seeps through their music, into your pores and gets under your skin. I have no idea why but it speaks to me. 'Hurricane Laughter' was the second single from the album and it is a great example of what this band has on offer.

'A Hero's Death' was the band's follow up album and it delivered in spades. It saw the band shift its musical direction into a dream like state. You know a band is on the rise when their second album is nominated for 'Best Rock Album' at the Grammy Awards and debuts at number two on the UK charts.

Another great song from that album is 'I don't belong'. The video was shot in the band's lead-singer's hometown in Ireland. It looks cold.

'Skinty Fia' is the band's third album and latest offering. It was released in April this year and is charting around the world reaching no. 1 in the UK, Scotland and Ireland while it has hit number 3 on Billboard's Heatseekers Album Chart. 'Jackie Down the Line' was the first single from the album.

The band is doing a world tour to promote the album so check out their website for dates and tickets.
